Adult Students will be motivated to achieve their goals in Tae Kwon Do through a combination of courtesy, patience, and positive reinforcement. Each student is viewed as an individual. Some students have natural physical talent while others will struggle daily. We work with each student to help them to be the best they can be. No student will ever be compared to another. We do, however, ask each student to always give us their personal best. Bonus: Adult Taekwondo students attend Kickboxing classes for free!

In her 4th year, Master Tammy Trudeau teaches at the Schoolhouse Montessori School, located at 3305 Crooks Road, Troy Michigan. Students (aged 2 to 10) get weekly Tae Kwon Do instruction, on-site at the Montessori (using the same principles and development techniques as used in Montessori), and have the opportunity to test and be awarded belts from Troy Martial Arts. State Championships in Hartland Michigan produce 20 State Champions from same school: Troy Martial Arts
Saturday was quite a day for Troy Martial Arts of Troy Michigan. Of the 31 participants it took to the State of Michigan Martial Arts Championships, 20 took 1st place, and and 25 qualified for the National Championships in San Jose, California next June. Master Tammy Trudeau, owner and master instructor for this Kils Tae Kwon Do Center, was very proud of all the participants. "Our top students work all year long for this day, and put everything they have into it. To see 20 of them champions, and 25 qualify for the trip to Nationals, is mind-boggling, but believable". Trudeau's school boasts over 200 students, from beginner to the most advanced level. After over 10 years, and many expansions and redesigns, the center at Crooks Road and South Blvd is often filled with eager students, learning everything from discipline to proper techniques in Tae Kwon Do, Cardio Kickboxing, Self-Defense, and Bully Defense.

Some students have natural physical talent while others will struggle daily. We work with each student to help them to be the best they can be. No student will ever be compared to another. We do, however, ask each student to always give us their personal best. We offer classes starting weekdays at 4:30pm, 5:20pm, and 6:20pm, depending on how early parents can get them to the Dojang. Can't get there for the 4:30pm class? Bring them to the 5:20 or 6:15 class!
The self-defense facet of this class will teach you the best of traditional techniques and current state-of-the-art methods. Korean and Japanese forms of self-defense, Hapkido, and Jiujitsu (Jiu-Jitsu) combines pressure points, wrist-lock withdrawing, kicking, blocks, punching and elbow striking. Students will learn the physical tools to avoid and survive an attack from the street. Body and mind are trained to respond instinctively to a dangerous situation. Troy Martial Arts 2012 Annual Tournament Big Success!
The TMA Annual Tournament was a great success, with over 80% of the dojang participating. All participants did two events (Forms and Breaking), and of those another 28 also competed in the sparring competition. The "Breaking" Grand Champion was Mike Brusoe (Adult). The "Forms" Grand Champions were Adrian Janarthanan (10U), Sana Mirza (age 11-15), and Nelson La (Adult). The "Sparring" Grand Champions were Johnathon Carmichael (10U) and Nelson La (Adult).
All participants recieved some cool Bobbleheads (breaking), and large trophies (forms and sparring). Grand Champions got their 5-foot tall monster trophies, which we are sure will make for great memories and conversation pieces for years to come. Master Tammy Trudeau was very pleased and excited with all the competitors, and thrilled to see all of the students tae kwon do, breaking, self-defense, and sparring skills put to practical use.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered by setting up, organizing, judging, selling pizza, etc etc etc! Without everyones help, we could not have had the success we did. :-)

For the third year, Troy Martial Arts presented the halftime show at the Placae of Auburn Hills, during the Detroit Pistons vs Charlotte Bobcats game. This years performance was titled "Ninja", and even included Hooper (Pistons Mascot) in a full Ninja uniform! Practice was a blast on Monday, and the main event Wednesday night was a blast! Students showed off their Ninja skills, including Forms, Sparring, Breaking, an Numchucks. World Record holder Kevin Taylor even crushed some garbage cans, and broke 15 bricks! Click here to see the video and photo's!
Choreographed by the Detroit Pistons and Master Tammy Trudeau, the fans loved it, and the performance was a huge success. We are already looking forward to the 2013 show!
The World Olympic Committee only considers these two sports as Martial Arts, as they are the only ones recognized as being historical, organized, and defined as a "standard" througout the world. The other types of martial arts (such as Jujitsu, MMA, Hapkido, Karate, etc) are not standardized or traceable to a common world governing body.
